This Armenian group conducted by Levon Eskanian was originally formed to "bring Gurdjieff home." In their first recording, a wide variety of folk instruments provide an interpretation of the Gurdjieff/de Hartmann pieces which can be attributed to Armenian folk sources, including many pieces from the first volume of sheet music, Asian Songs and Rhythms. These unique textures encourage careful listening and evoke a feeling which comes from hearing music so fundamental to a given place, in this case the region where Gurdjieff was born and grew up among the surrounding influences.
